Boats finished at their slips, on the bays between Longport and Strathmere. A different one every time you look.

Rates

One rate to bring her up, a small one each week to keep her there — by the foot for boats, flat for jet skis.

Wax laid along a gunwale with a machine polisher and a wool pad. A cockpit coaming wiped down by hand with a wash mitt.
Both, on every boat. The machine where it earns its keep, the hand everywhere it does not.

The First Detail

The whole boat, bow to stern: hull, glass, metal polish, hardtop, anchor, dashboards, carpets, the full interior and the engine exterior — finished in wax.

Ceramic Coating

Added on top of a detail. It seals the finish so the salt has less to hold to, and the shine carries through the season.

Weekly, standing

The Washdown

A standing weekly rinse and wipe that keeps the salt from ever setting in — decks, glass, rails and hull. Nothing to sign, and you may stop it whenever you like.

Engine flush available where the setup allows it — mention it when you book. Serving Ocean City, Somers Point, Marmora, Longport, Margate, Strathmere and Sea Isle City.

    Book it

    My name is Keith, and you will be texting me rather than an office. Text me the day that suits you, or telephone and I will put you down. Tell me the length of the boat and where she sits — or simply that it is a jet ski, and where it is kept. That is the whole conversation.

    The work

    I arrive on the date, usually with my younger brother, and we work while you are elsewhere. Your dock's water spigot and a standard 120‑volt outlet are all that I need.

  3. III

    Kept bright

    You come back to a finished boat and a note to say it is done. No walk‑around, no waiting on me, no standing about on the dock.

Brightwork is the old word for the parts of a boat that are kept gleaming — the varnished rail, the polished stainless, the glass that throws back the light. It is the part of a vessel that shows whether anyone is looking after her.

My name is Keith DiMarino. I answer the telephone, and I am the man who comes down your dock. My younger brother works alongside me on most boats. There is nobody else.

I live in Ocean City. I know what it costs to put a scratch in a gelcoat, which is most of the reason I am careful on somebody else’s boat.
